Into the Sports Vault: Freddie Roach

As a boxer, Freddie Roach went 40-13 with 15 of those wins by knockout. As a trainer, Roach compiles a more impressive resume, training boxers like Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins, Mike Tyson, and Miguel Cotto and mixed martial artists like Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz. Although I don’t know if there is any truth to it, the most unique factoid I’ve learned about Freddie Roach is that he trained Shaquille O’Neal in preparation for an episode of “Shaq Vs.” and trained Mark Wahlberg for his role as Mickey Ward in “The Fighter.”
